Stephen A. Day is the CEO of Day Capital Partners, Inc., a capital advisory firm based in Washington, DC and Jacksonville, Florida. www.daycap.com The firm provides management advisory and capitalization support for small-cap firms, mostly in the Defense, Homeland Security, Information Technology, and Alternative Energy markets. Mr. Day is the Managing Partner in FundWorks, a fund with interests in biotech firms. He is also Chairman of the Board of Corporate Fission, LLC, a BPO that supports various businesses with highly-skilled software developers for major corporations. Stephen was Chairman of Secure Waters Security Group, Inc., a maritime security firm, and sits on the board of four other energy, healthcare and IT firms. His firm, Day Technology Group, provided training for the US Army’s Combat Medic School at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
Stephen is Chairman of the Board and interim CFO of Docpoint Global, Inc., a physician/patient management SAAS company. www.docpoint.com He is also on the Board of the National Graphene Association, and serves as an advisor to several university research centers on commercialization of cutting-edge technologies. He is an advisor to Parallel 18, an accelerator in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He served as Chairman of the Board at Secured Waters Security Group, Inc, a maritime security firm based in Miami.
Stephen was formerly the Chairman of the District of Columbia Local Emergency Planning Council, which had jurisdiction over the Homeland Security protection of our nation’s capital. He was one of the founding members and first executive director of the CEO Council, and has served in the Maryland-China Business Council. He has served as the Mergers/Acquisitions advisor to several large Defense and Intelligence related firms and has structured acquisitions that have exceeded 1billion collectively. Stephen has also served as interim CEO for several corporations, while reorganizing their structure and debt and recruiting a new permanent management team.
In the early 1980s, Day started a paving and sitework company which was sold and then served first as superintendent, then project manager, then vice-president and finally partner at the Makela Corporation, a general contractor and developer headquartered in Leesburg, VA. He built the Orange Park Business Center on Wells Road and commercial properties in northern VA and Maryland. He led construction on single family homes in Orange Park, FL, Leesburg, VA and Frederick, MD. At one point, he bought a structural insulated panel (SIPs) firm in Albavilla, Italy.
Born and raised in Florida, Stephen attended the University of Tennessee and subsequently University of Maryland. He has a background in military intelligence, chemical and biological weapons defense, and emergency management. He serves as an entrepreneurial advisor to the Department of Defense for new technology. He has served in various roles in issues related to armed conflict resolution, including Croatia and Bosnia, and Global hunger. Stephen divides his time between the Washington, DC area and Florida. He is married to Tahmina Day, MBA, an officer and corporate governance expert at the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation.
